[14:05:11] <mesut> hi
[14:05:43] <mesut> i want my bot to run a command,when somebody says something -)
[14:05:57] <mesut> i.e if i do:
[14:06:04] <mesut> is Listening to asdasd.mp3
[14:06:11] <mesut> the bot will do :
[14:06:14] <mesut> @insult mesut
[14:06:15] <supybot> mesut: Error: "insult" is not a valid command.
[14:25:45] <aa_> mesut: always good to back spam up with more spam
[14:27:01] <mesut> is it possible ? iirc i played with a plugin last year, was doing something like what i want
[14:27:18] <bbrazil> I know I came across one such plugin
[14:29:23] <bbrazil> ah, Observer
[14:29:37] <mesut> thankx -)
[14:30:08] <bbrazil> I don't think its a standard plugin, but its in Debian
[14:34:20] <mesut> then ill install it on a debian box,and get the plugin
[14:34:31] <mesut> im running my bot on gentoo box
[14:34:45] <bbrazil> you can probably just google it
[14:38:05] <mesut> maybe there are any other plugins .-)
[14:42:05] <mesut> hrm, but since the versions are different, plugin directory is different too
[14:42:13] <mesut> gentoo has each plugin in its seperate folder
[14:42:28] <mesut> where debian has all in one directory
[14:45:02] <mesut> Error: In our switch from CVS to Darcs (after 0.80.1), we changed the __init__ for callbacks.Privmsg* to also accept an irc argument. This plugin (Observer) is overriding its __init__ method and needs to update its prototype to be 'def __init__(self, irc):' as well as passing that irc object on to any calls to the plugin's parent's __init__.
[15:00:46] <jamessan> we didn't port Observer to the new plugin format because it was a) buggy, b) more a proof-of-concept than a production-worthy plugin, c) you're better off writing your own plugin than using Observer to do what you want

[22:36:32] <jack_c> hello, i can't identify with my bot. and i get supybot Exception id: 0xb9923 in the logs.. can't find it on google .. what's this ?
[22:40:48] <supybot> <Strike|work> what version of the bot are you running?
[22:42:03] <jack_c> supybot 0.80.1
[22:42:24] <supybot> <Strike|work> the latest version is 0.83.1, I'd suggest upgrading
[22:42:36] <supybot> <Strike|work> (read the RELNOTES and Changelog for things you need to change)
[22:43:47] <jack_c> so is's a bug ?
[22:43:53] <jack_c> *it's
[22:44:04] <supybot> <Strike|work> quite possibly, we'll find out when you upgrade :)
[22:44:10] <supybot> <Strike|work> 0.80.1 is reaaaaallly old
[22:46:05] <jack_c> well that's the latest version in debian
[22:46:20] <jamessan> no, that's the version in debian unstable
[22:46:32] <jamessan> s/un//
[22:46:45] <jamessan> there are definitely newer versions in testing/unstable
[22:46:50] <jack_c> maybe..
[22:46:53] <jamessan> definitely
[22:46:55] <supybot> <Strike|work> so sayeth the maintainer
[22:46:56] <jamessan> I maintain them
[22:46:57] <jack_c> but i am using stable for servers
[22:47:13] <supybot> <Strike|work> so download the tarball :)
[22:47:21] <jack_c> jamessan: can you give a link to a newer .deb ?
[22:47:44] <jamessan> yeah, your debian mirror
[22:47:51] <supybot> <Strike|work> I'd say http://packages.debian.org/supybot/ but it's down :(

[22:48:40] <supybot> <Strike|work> jamessan: why depends <<2.4 ?
[22:49:02] <jamessan> Strike|work: that's autogenerated
[22:49:16] <supybot> <Strike|work> ah
[22:49:28] <jamessan> 2.3 is the default python, so it gets limited to >= 2.3 << 2.4
[22:49:41] <supybot> <Strike|work> weird, but .. gotcha
[22:52:40] <jack_c> ok, upgraded
